Shortly after my mom graduated to Heaven, I dreamed I encountered her in antique store. I was so excited! I ran up and hugged her and said, “Mom! It’s so good to see you. It’s been so long.” She said, “Yes, it’s been a thousand years.” I said, “It seems like a thousand years, but it’s only been a few months.” And she gently corrected me: “No. It’s been a thousand wonderful years.” I’ve thought about that dream again and again. Time has a different measurement with God. Paul talked about our “momentary” light affliction, and Peter compared a thousand years to a day in heaven’s time. Here Jesus says “a little while,” which seems as if it should be only a few minutes. When compared to eternity, any number of years here on earth seem like a little while. We don’t need to worry so much about the time, though, as the promise. We WILL see Him again! He arose from that grave, He conquered death forever, and He will one day appear in the clouds to call His beloved Home. We WILL see Jesus, and oh! what a glorious day that will be!
