Does God want us to be in a constant state of mourning and weeping? No, of course not. He brings us joy unspeakable! But unless we come to the place where we realize we are lost and in need of a Savior, we will never mourn His absence. We will never weep for the sin that separates us from Him. Thus our flippant attitude of living for the moment, grabbing whatever selfish pleasure we can, isn’t beneficial for us. We must recognize we are sinful beings who need to be cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. We must bow in repentance and humbly ask forgiveness. Then the reverse occurs: our sorrow changes to joy—an eternal joy that nothing and no one can ever take from us.
