Peter told the people who listened to him preach that they’d played a part in killing the very One God sent to save them. Suddenly they realized what they’d done, and they were brokenhearted. We might say they were convicted of their need for a Savior. What could they do now, they wanted to know, to make things right. Peter had an answer. He told them to repent. When we are presented with the truth of Jesus, we have two options: repent, which involves asking forgiveness for our sins; or reject Him. It’s an either/or proposition—there’s no middle ground. Ultimately, no one can remain neutral about God’s offer of salvation. To be saved, we must choose Jesus as the source of our salvation. And when we choose Him…everything changes.
