Jesus told His disciples all about the heartache that was to come, not only for Him. Yes, they as His followers would face suffering. And then He gave them words of encouragement and assurance: Be courageous! I have conquered the world! The disciples would see their Beloved One suffer and die. They would face rejection and persecution. But they needn’t worry about failure, because their Jesus, the One who would conquer death, had already overcome the world. This scripture inspires me in moments when the pain and confusion of the present want to cloud my future. JESUS has CONQUERED this world! Our victory is complete because of HIM.
