The Lord has a purpose for you. That purpose is rooted in and fashioned according to God’s eternal plan! Do you see how important you are? Now, in this verse God was speaking to Jeremiah, who was a prophet with some mighty important messages to share. We might not be prophets, but that doesn’t mean our mission lacks value. God knows whose lives you will impact by the work ethic you model, what you say to people, the way you treat them, the prayers you offer for them, maybe just the smile you choose to wear when things aren’t going all that great around you. God had specific messages He wanted Jeremiah to deliver; God has specific tasks He wants you to perform for His glory. Of course, we don’t have to do them. He can command, but it’s up to us whether we obey or not. When God makes plans for His children, it’s to bring them spiritual prosperity and hope that lasts into eternity. Of what joy might we rob ourselves by refusing to seek and follow His will and purpose? Who else might be robbed of a glimpse of the Father if we choose to ignore His guidance? Never let yourself believe you aren’t important in the light of eternity. He made you; you are valued; you have a divine purpose.
