A few years ago I released a devotional which I titled In the Morning When I Rise. (I’m sure you’re familiar with the song bearing a similar title, and it’s completing phrase, “Give Me Jesus.”) Starting our day by looking to Him puts our focus where it will do us the most good. My days—even my hardest days—go better when I rise before dawn, spend time in His Word, and take a peek at the sunrise. My hope truly is in Him…in who He is to me, and in who I am to Him. I know He will never leave me nor forsake me, and those early morning minutes with Him bolster me for whatever lies ahead. In the morning when you rise, look to Jesus. Turn your eyes and your mind on your Hope.
