“No harm…no plague will come near…” We read these words and immediately think of harm or illnesses that have befallen us. Yes, in this sinful world, there will hardships. Our bodies will suffer and break down. But that doesn’t mean we’ve been abandoned. On the contrary! If we are dwelling in the LORD Most High, then nothing this world throws at us makes an ounce of eternal difference. What the evil one means for harm, God can use for our good and His glory. We can look at hardship as a means of deepening our dependence on Him, of being given the privilege of exhibiting faithfulness. (Are you now thinking of someone who has lived faith in the face of trial? Did that person’s journey encourage you in yours?) Dear Christian, whatever unpleasantness happens is already overruled by God’s goodness. Even if hardship leads to death, we know death is our gateway to Heaven…to LIFE. We can be secure in peril while those who don’t believe in Him will flounder and fail, because we KNOW He is faithful to deliver us.
