Those opening words, “But look, the LORD keeps his eye on those who fear him,” could be interpreted as a warning, as if some big angry giant with a club is standing over us ready to whack us when we step out of line. But the rest of the verse chases away that image. Those who depend on Him—those who seek to follow His will—live under the umbrella of His watchful, attentive, protective gaze. He knows the moment I need His strength or comfort or wisdom or peace, and He’s always ready to bestow it. Those who depend on His faithful love wait with hope, trusting that He will meet their needs. They walk in confidence that they are loved because He is faithful. God’s faithful love is constant in every one of life’s circumstances, and it cannot be shaken. How blessed are we to be under His tender care.
