The older I get, the harder it is for me to memorize. I was actually pretty stunned at how many hymns my mom and I could sing together when she was in the hospital. When she asked me to read scripture to her, quite often she recited the words with me. A smile would quiver on her lips as we sang or read. Clearly she took delight in His word, and she held much in memory. I’m glad that, as a child, I did memorize verses, from both the Bible and the hymnbook! God’s word has bolstered me, advised me, comforted me, and reminded me of my value in His sight. Those things in which we hold delight, we remember. I pray I always remember the truths from His word.
