You know, even well-seasoned Christians—ones who have walked with Him for generations—have moments of questioning. I’ll never forget my mom asking what God was trying to teach her through her final illness. I was flabbergasted that she couldn’t see how the lesson wasn’t so much for her as for others. Her holding to faith even in great suffering impacted every person who walked through her hospital door. Despite the moments of confusion and despite the pain, my mom sang from her bed, “I have the love of Jesus, love of Jesus, down in my heart…” She truly did, and she had it because she had always sought to follow Him with her whole heart. Jeremiah 29:11, a familiar verse, tells us God has good plans for His children; Jeremiah 29:12-13 inform us how to find those plans. We’re to seek Him with all our heart. If we do, we’ll find Him. That’s a promise.
