A little boy who was known for being ornerier than most dashed to his parents’ waiting car after school and flopped into the backseat with a huge grin. He cheerfully announced, “I had a good day today! I only got three time-outs instead of five!” Despite our best efforts, we sometimes still deserve three (or five?) “time-outs” in a day’s time. Our crazy sin nature gets in the way. That is why God, who is without sin, is the standard for good. He is innately good, and because He is innately good, everything He does is good. His omnipotence and omniscience let Him make right decisions at all times and make Him the perfect Guide for our lives. Instead of seeking man’s wisdom (which is too often foolishness in the eyes of God), let’s instead consistently seek His wisdom. Where do we find it? Ah, we find it in His Word.
