It’s not that hard to fool people, sad to say. So many are fooled by eloquent or fervent speech that holds not an element of truth. But none of us can fool our Creator. He sees my heart. Whatever I choose to fill myself up with will eventually find its way from my mouth. If I’m not careful, I can lead others astray with careless or anger-motivated words. If I want my words to be seasoned, then I must guard my heart and fill myself with Him. As the hymn says, “Oh! to be like Thee, full of compassion, loving, forgiving, tender and kind.” I pray to be so filled with Him, nothing else will have space to grow.
