We sometimes confuse the word “blessed” with “happy.” Listen, trials will not make us happy. But they will bring about the blessing of greater strength and spiritual maturity. When we stand the test—when we hold to our faith even in the face of great pressure and conflict—to us will come the victor’s crown. As much as I miss my mom and many others who have graduated to heaven, there is a thought that makes my eyes well with happy tears: imagining them receiving the crown of life as they enter Heaven’s gates. How I pray I hear those wonderful words, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” There can be no greater reward for a Christian than His approval.
