If you read Matthew 25:31-40, you’ll find a passage that matches this Scripture very well. The passage ends, “The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me (NIV).’” It’s not easy to be kind to someone who isn’t kind to us. But put the face of Jesus in front of them, and we see them the way Christ does: loved yet lost. With Him on our hearts, we can reach out in genuine care. Yes, there will be some who take advantage of our kindness. But Mother Theresa put it well: “I would rather make mistakes in kindness and compassion than work miracles in unkindness and hardness.” Extend a hand of loving kindness and let others see Jesus in you.
