Let us not grow tired

John 1 begins, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Then in 1:14 John wrote, “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” Jesus had been with the Father before time began. He came to earth for the sole purpose of offering redemption to lost souls. Now that His earthly mission was done, He could return to the Father’s side. He came from the Father, and eventually He would return to the Father. It was devastating for His disciples when Jesus departed from their presence, but if He hadn’t gone, the Spirit couldn’t have come. The Spirit can be everywhere, in every believer, with every breath we take, helping us to honor the Father in our decisions, actions, thoughts, and speech. Jesus’ desire to glorify the Father should be every believer’s desire, as well. We glorify Him when we complete the work He’s given us to do. We may face opposition, and we may battle discouragement, and we may be tempted to quit, but when we follow in obedience, we discover joy and fulfillment. Remember Galations 6:9, “Let us not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up.”
