When I think of people who have inspired me in my Christian walk, I think of my mom and dad, a couple of former ministers, several people I’ve met in the work place or church—people who showed an example of faithfulness despite the trials and hardships of life. Their leaning on Jesus and growing in faith delivered a silent message of encouragement that I, too, can lean on Jesus and grow in faith no matter what life tosses my way. I was asked a few days ago how I handle stress, and it was easy for me to answer: praise. Singing praise songs or reading Scripture aloud centers my thoughts on the One who put this universe together. I didn’t come up with that on my own; I learned it from my mom. There’s a reason we sang so many hymns and recited so many passages of Scripture during her last hospitalization. And it brought both of us peace. When we hold onto our faith, we set an example for others to see the difference Jesus makes. Sing. Praise. Proclaim His name. Shout it until the whole world hears.
