Hope for change

Have you ever stood by helplessly while someone you care about runs down a path you know will lead to destruction? Or does your heart ache for the friend or family member who is determined to make it through life on their own, denying their need for a Savior? Many are those who choose to reject God’s beautiful gift of salvation through Jesus Christ’s sacrifice at Calvary. A long time ago, a pastor wisely told me I could not change anyone else; I could only, with God’s help, change myself. BUT, he added, that doesn’t mean we cease to pray or neglect to set the example.

Pray daily for the lost in your family and your circle of friends, that the Holy Spirit will soften their hearts and lead them to the realization that they need Jesus more than anything else. Pray daily for new Christians to grow in faith and dependence on Him. Pray daily for yourself, that your words and actions will point others to the One who redeemed you. The wicked might not seek out the Lord on their own, but with the right influences, the nudging of the Holy Spirit, and the faithful prayers of the saints, their vision can shift from evil to Good. It is His will that none should perish, so pray, Christian, pray! As long as people draw breath, there is hope for change.
