There is so much chaos and anger and backbiting in the world today. We might be tempted to look heavenward and ask God, “Do You care at all?” We don’t need to wonder. Absolutely He cares. He loves mankind—every single member, regardless of his/her behavior. But you know what else? He lets us make our own choices. God does turn His face away from the wicked (see 1 Peter 3:12), but this is in recognition of THEIR rejection of HIM. If any of those people would lift their face to heaven and ask God for forgiveness, He’d grant it. We look at this mess and we wonder why God doesn’t intervene. He could—He made the earth and He can certainly control what happens on it—but again…He lets us make our choices. And He lets us suffer the consequences of our choices. Sometimes other people’s choices/consequences spill over on us, and that can seem unfair. But in those moments of hardship, He is right there with us, giving us strength to endure, wisdom to respond in Christ-like ways, and comfort to ease our troubled minds. People reject God, but God does not reject His beloved children. If you are His, saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, rest assured: His eyes are watching you.
