Boy, the flesh sure gets in the way sometimes, doesn’t it? It’s so easy to worry and fret, to get angry or irritated, to lose patience and say things we later regret. And every time we give in to the flesh, we suffer the consequence of unrest. The Spirit wants something better for us: peace. Have you ever experienced the peace that passes earthly understanding? Marvelous, isn’t it? It’s a gift to us from Jesus Christ, whose return to heaven sent the Spirit to reside within the very souls of believers. We don’t need to get tangled up in despair, worry, fury, or exasperation. It’s a choice we make—give in to the flesh; or let the Spirit take control. I’d much rather have peace.
