When Paul remembered the support of his Christian friends, he experienced joy that infiltrated his prayers. The amazing thing about this is Paul was in prison when he wrote this letter! Imprisoned, yet he experienced joy. How is this possible? Well, it’s possible because Paul understood that a prison cell didn’t separate him from the love of God or the prayer support of his Christian brothers and sisters. He was sustained by the knowledge of God’s presence and the assurance that he wasn’t forgotten. Did you thank God yesterday for the people who have encouraged you in your Christian walk? Why not take the time today to send them a note or an email or a text? Tell them they are important to you, and tell them you’re praying for them. Your words might be just the encouragement they need to hear to bring a rush of joy to their hearts.
