Back in His arms

Well, here we are at the end of our months-long foray through Psalm 119. Hasn’t it been a delightful, insightful journey? I’m glad we made it! Because I am directionally challenged. Even using a GPS, I still find myself in places I didn’t intend to go. That’s when I call The Hubs, who knows the direction even with his eyes closed.

As confusing and uncomfortable as it is to get lost in a strange neighborhood, it’s worse to get lost spiritually. It happens when we take our focus away from Jesus and go traipsing off on a pathway not of His choosing. But remember the story about the shepherd with 100 sheep? When the one was lost, he sought until he found it and carried it back to safety. That’s what Jesus wants to do for us when we wander away from Him.

The key to return is to once again obey His Word. His Word is a lamp for our feet, a light for our path. If you feel a little lost and absent, open His word. Read Psalm 139 or Psalm 23 or the story of His birth, death, and resurrection. Remind yourself how valuable you are to Him, then praise Him for loving you and for making good plans for your life. You’ll find yourself right back in His arms. Exactly where every heart longs to reside. God bless you!
