A sincere heart

I’ve heard it said, you can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time. People can be fooled. Manipulators take advantage of that, often to dire effect. But y’know what? We can never fool God. He knows exactly what lurks in the hearts of men, whether it be good or evil. When we have the Lord’s Supper (communion) at church, every minister I’ve ever had encouraged the congregants to search their own hearts before partaking. If an unconfessed sin or rift with a brother in Christ had not been dealt with, we were instructed to take care of that first. Then we could come before the Lord with a sincere heart. When we know we’re seeking His will above our own, we live without regret or worry of being found out. We praise Him wholeheartedly rather than in pretense. Sincerity—being free of deceit—before God and man is a secure, joyful place to be.
