I’ve heard it said we were given two ears and one mouth to help us remember to listen more than we speak. That principle is largely ignored these days. People seem to be much more focused on their right to be heard than their responsibility to hear their fellow men. And so much of what’s said is done so in a loud, angry, selfish voice. Sad, really, when God wants so much more for us. Quick to hear…slow to speak…slow to anger… Following this advice will let us stand out from the noisy, clanging crowd. It will set an example of righteousness—of goodness and decency. The world needs these examples. Because the world needs Jesus.
