There is a wonderful assurance in these words that those who love God are secure. A strong clue for this promise is found in the word LORD. Whenever the word is found in all caps, then we know we’re talking about Yahweh, the Covenant God, the One who will not leave us nor forsake us. Notice also the use of the word “made.” This isn’t something that occurs by happenstance. We MAKE Him our refuge—it’s a deliberate action on our parts. When we choose to trust and rest in Him, we experience a peace and security greater than any physical structure this world will offer. Charles Spurgeon puts it this way: “Get into God and you dwell in all good.” Faith leads us to hide in Him. It’s a deliberate practice that becomes habitual in all the right ways.
