Yesterday I said growth should be our goal every day of our earthly lives. How should we strive to grow? In knowledge and discernment. Knowledge is gathering information about what it means to be a faithful follower of Christ. Discernment is knowing how to utilize what we’ve learned. Discernment helps us determine which things are true, good, pure, and beneficial for us. Not everything we encounter in this sin-filled world, no matter how wonderful it looks or enticing it sounds, will help us grow in faith. Discernment lets us seek the things God would have us seek. When we grow in Christlikeness, we discover joy and peace this world cannot possibly give. As Wednesday’s hymn closed, “Let the Amen sound from his people again; gladly forever adore him.” (I hope you enjoyed the flowers from my dad’s garden in this week’s scripture memes.)
