Every culture has its god. Men innately want to believe in a higher being. The Jews were no different, except they claimed to follow Yahweh, the Covenant God of Israel. Even though God had promised to send the Messiah, the Jews still doubted Jesus’ words. His exclamation here should have gotten their attention.
There are many who will say they believe in God, but when you ask about their relationship with Jesus, they shrug it off as unnecessary. Everyone likes the idea of a loving God who takes care of them; few are willing to commit to a Savior who expects obedience. But the Scripture is clear: to reach the Father, we must embrace the Son.
