You know, the way we conduct ourselves gives a testimony. It can be a good one or a not-so-good one, depending on how we relate to others. If we’re Christians, we are called to walk with decency. I used to tell my students, integrity is doing the right thing even if no one is watching. But guess what? There is always Someone watching. This world is full of temptations and pitfalls. But we’re not to model ourselves after the world. We are to be set apart. Holy. Reflecting the Light.
I find it interesting how there are three sets of specific sin behaviors: drunkenness and carousing; sexual impurity and promiscuity; and quarreling and jealousy. The third seems pretty mild compared to the first two, doesn’t it? But is it really? Quarreling with others or choosing jealousy (and the ugly behavior that generally accompanies it) definitely affects our testimony. We can’t be light while wallowing in darkness.
Every step writes our testimony of faithfulness. Let’s walk in decency.
