Practice makes perfect

Have you heard the old adage “practice makes perfect”? It’s kind of misleading. Humans can’t reach perfection because we’re, well, human. But by practicing, we get better and better and will eventually make fewer and fewer mistakes. The same applies to our Christian lifestyle. We need to make holiness our daily practice. (Holy: set apart, seeking to live for Him instead of self.) The more we push aside the worldly practices of selfishness, pettiness, criticism, unwholesome talk, or any number of other behaviors that aren’t pleasing to our Father, and replace them with humility, compassion, encouragement, edifying words, etc., the closer we come to Christ-likeness. Practice might not make us perfect, but it will sure bring change! And when we practice His precepts, it’s a guarantee the changes will be beneficial to us and to all we encounter.
