Point them to the Savior

Most people like thinking about Jesus’s love. And why shouldn’t we? His love is unconditional. His love is universal. He welcomes into His presence the prostitutes and tax collectors and the lowliest of society as well the “goodest” among us. His arms are always ready to receive sinners. But we kind of skim past some elements of Jesus’s love. It is sacrificial (He was willing to die for us!). It holds high expectations for the recipients (“Go and sin no more.”). When He commands us to love each other as He loved us, that means He expects us to sacrifice for others. He expects us to lovingly correct a wayward brother or sister and help them get back on track. He expects us to put others’ needs ahead of our own. It feels good to sit back and bask in His love, but if we’re His disciples, we need to do more than bask; we’ve got to share it. The most loving thing we can do for a lost soul is to tell them they are lost and point them to the Savior.
