Today let’s look at verse 43: “For they loved praise from men more than praise from God.” Some people believed Jesus was who He claimed to be, but they stayed silent. Pleasing men was more important to them than pleasing God with their full commitment. How sad. Can any man, no matter how powerful or benevolent or anything else, do for us what Jesus did? Yet how often do we compromise our convictions to avoid being ridiculed or stay quiet about our beliefs so we don’t offend someone? When we get hung up on pleasing men before God, we’re going to disappoint our Savior every time. Shouldn’t we rather please the One who gave His all for our redemption?
