Open your eyes

This verse is heartbreaking. They SAW Him. They saw His miracles. They heard His words, which were wise beyond measure. They looked right at Him, but they couldn’t SEE.

When I was healed in September of 2004 and arrived at school minus my cane, people noticed. If someone asked where it was (because in a public school you’re not allowed to run around proclaiming Jesus’ name), I loved saying, “I don’t need it because God healed me!” Some celebrated with me, but others doubted. One even said, “You’re in a remission. It’ll be temporary.” (We’re beyond 20 years now, and my cane still hangs in my office, unused beyond giving evidence of what God did for me.)

Sometimes, even when the truth is right in front of someone’s eyes, they don’t see. They won’t believe. A hardened heart is a sorrowful thing. We must pray for hearts to soften, for eyes to open, and for those who’ve not yet believed to receive the Life-giver.
