“Suffering” is one of those words we want to avoid in life, but at the same time we realize no one makes it all the way from birth to death without facing times of trial and heartache. When suffering comes, our first thought is “Get me out of here!” Suffering isn’t fun. But suffering offers a unique opportunity that all the mountaintop dances cannot—the opportunity to truly experience the presence of God’s inexplicable peace and comfort.

When we lean into Him, He sustains us. We discover the truth of His promises to never leave us and to give us strength to overcome. Additionally, we have the chance to display a beautiful testimony of grace—and even joy!—in the midst of pain. Being a Christian isn’t an insurance policy against suffering, but it is a guarantee that whatever we encounter in this broken world, we need not face it alone on our own strength. HE is our Savior, Strength, and Song forever and ever.
