When we left off at the end of November, Jesus acknowledged that as much as He wanted to be spared the agony of the cross, it was the purpose for which He had come to earth and He would see it through to glorify the Father. God the Father replied with both promise and praise. Those who heard His voice (can you imagine actually hearing the Voice of God???) had various reactions to it, but interestingly enough, none of them recognized the Truth of who spoke.
Isn’t that the way it is for so many people today? God speaks. He speaks through His Word. He speaks through the intricate beauty of nature. He speaks through the glorifying works of His followers. But people say the Bible is only a book; nature is a result of happenstance; some people are good and some are not… Until we hear, recognize, and respond to His call to receive His Son as Savior and Lord, we are lost. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: people need the Lord!
