God is all good

It’s easy to detest things that are obviously evil, isn’t it? Who among us wouldn’t detest the abuse of children, the slaughter of Christians in foreign lands, thieves breaking into our home and taking the things for which we’ve worked…? But some evil isn’t so easy to see. It lurks in shadows and can even manipulate us into thinking, “Well, that’s not so bad.” So how do we know when we’re clinging to something good? We receive some sound instruction in Philippians 4:8, “…whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is any praise—dwell on these things.” By dwelling on these things, we’re more likely to recognize them when we see them. And, by contrast, we’re more likely to recognize situations that don’t fit within those parameters. Our declaration of love becomes hypocrisy when we dabble in things that are evil. God is all good. By seeking good, we reflect Him. And, as my Wugmump would say, “That’s alllll good.”
