I guess it’s no secret that I’m a sky watcher. I love sunrises and sunsets. I’m fascinated by ever-changing banks of clouds. When I was a child, one of my favorite pastimes was lying on my back in the yard, gazing at the sky. I suppose, in a way, it brought me security to know that wherever I lived—no matter the city or the neighborhood—the glorious expanse of sky would always be there.

This world is constantly changing. Fashions change, laws change, morality barometers change, friends and sometimes even family members come and go… We might feel as if there is no stable base anymore, but there is: God’s statutes. The words He put in His Book do not change. He knew then what would be best for His creation, and He established parameters that would keep us safe from sin’s regrets and recriminations. His love for us, born before time began, is still very much in place.

When insecurity strikes, look up at the sky. Envision God’s face on the other side of the blue expanse. He’s there. He cares. And He always wants the very best for you.
