There’s a standing joke in our family: Don’t give Kim a houseplant; it won’t survive. And it’s true. I have no green thumb. Just as my houseplants fade, so does the grass and green plants that grow outside. It’s here for a season and then gone. Such is the case with evildoers. They have their season of turmoil, and then they’re gone. In the middle of their “season,” they can certainly stir us to anger, can’t they? We might be tempted to wonder why we bother to do right when the evil ones seem to get by with their deeds, unhindered and unprosecuted (I don’t think that’s a real word, but you know what I mean). But you know, what they’re doing has no eternal value. It’s hard not to be agitated, but reach for compassion instead. Evildoers are incredibly lost. Their souls are empty. Christ-followers won’t wither and wilt, because we have eternity with Jesus waiting for us. We can celebrate that truth at all times.

He is holy
