Speak up for Jesus

People have a real problem with the name of Jesus. They don’t mind talking about God (or a god), but speak of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and suddenly defenses go up. Here’s the thing: we can’t claim to be God-honoring unless we honor His Son. We can’t neglect to speak His name out of fear we’ll offend someone. We can’t sugarcoat the gospel to make people feel like they’re okay when they’re lost. (Jesus’ words: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”—John 14:6). Jesus came to this earth. He suffered and was crucified to take the penalty for the sins of mankind. He deserves our honor. He deserves our devotion. He deserves to have His name lifted up. If we stutter over speaking His name or neglect speaking the truth of who He is, then we can’t truly say our lives honor God. In these days of political correctness, speaking up for Jesus might cause you ridicule, but remember what He suffered for you. He died for me; will I honor Him?
