WHEN we devote ourselves to Him, THEN we can anticipate His blessings. Look at these blessings. “I will deliver him…” The angels aren’t delivering us, but the God who created the angels will deliver us from evil. God knows who loves Him, and He responds to our love with His mighty hand of deliverance from sin and darkness.
I’ve gotta share the King James again for the last half of the verse: “I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.” The one who places his full faith, trust, and hope in God will be elevated to a place of peace and joy the world does not know or understand. It’s a place of intimate fellowship with the Father. The faithful believer is given that place of fellowship because “he knows My name.” Names had great meaning in the Old Testament times. Names reflected something unique about the bearer. The one who knows God’s name understands and responds with awe to His attributes of love, grace, mercy, goodness, righteousness, and justice (among others). To know Him intimately is the most glorious thing we can experience. We love Him because He first loved us.
