His hands made us! Whenever I hear, “My body, my choice,” I cringe. This isn’t because of politics, though. It’s because it ignores the truth that each of us are created in His image and are called to seek and follow Him instead of living only for self. Elsewhere in Psalms we read that we were fearfully and wonderfully made by Him when we were still in our mother’s womb. Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them.” In Jeremiah we learn that our Creator makes good plans for us, meant to bring us hope that leads to a future with Him. Until we recognize and respect the Creator, we will never respect life in general—our own, or anyone else’s. Until we believe that we were made by Him, we will never be complete. Basic respect for life begins with an acknowledgement that we were crafted by God, the Creator. If we want to unlock deep down joy and fulfillment, here’s the key: embrace Him as Savior and Lord.
