Temptations abound, don’t they? We can’t get away from them. Maybe that’s why Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “…when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it (I Cor. 10:13 NIV).” The devil can certainly tempt us, but he cannot MAKE us fall into sin. It really is our choice to cave to temptation or rise above it. Asking God for the strength to resist brings the wherewithal to follow through. When we resist temptation, we can live with a clear conscience and stand before God without shame. That’s a pretty strong motivation to resist the devil.
