Fight for righteousness

Generally when we think about our body, we consider head, torso, and appendages. Those parts can certainly lead us into sin! But Paul, the author of Romans, probably had more than our physical body in mind when he wrote these words. He commanded if you’ve been redeemed, then offer every part of yourself to God as weapons for righteousness. Every part of us…our physical body, our mind (thoughts), attitudes, even the words formed on our tongue. Let every piece of us show righteousness (ethical conduct). And let our righteousness be a weapon against wrongdoing. Wow! That’s powerful, isn’t it? Our words, our actions, our attitudes impact those we encounter. When we cave to the temptation to let anger or bitterness or selfishness take control, we rarely exhibit ethical conduct. But remember my mom’s favorite verse (1 Cor. 10:13)? When we’re tempted to sin, we don’t have to give in. God will give us a means of escape. Not only that, His Spirit will strengthen us. Because Jesus overcame the grave, we can overcome temptation. Fight for righteousness!
