Jesus had to go away. It was part of the Father’s plan, and without Jesus’s willingness to go to the cross we’d all still be burning sacrifices on altars and seeking to adhere to an impossible-to-achieve list of laws. He left, but He didn’t leave us hopeless. He didn’t leave us comfortless. He didn’t leave us without assurance. He went to prepare a place for us, where we will dwell eternally and where sorrow and pain will never again touch us. Until that day we reach His side, His Spirit resides within us as an ever-present Help, Guide, and Source of Peace. There truly is no other Friend like Jesus.
