“…fallen asleep.” Jesus knew Lazarus had passed away and was already in the tomb. His disciples, however, didn’t understand the choice of words. They said, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will get well.” So Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus has died. I’m glad for you that I wasn’t there so that you may believe.” See? Jesus knew what had transpired. And He had a reason for going to Bethany at the time He did. Because He waited until there could be no question that Lazarus was dead (remember Martha’s comment, “But, Lord, he stinketh.”?), there could be no question that He brought His friend back to life. No one could deny the truth of the miracle.
No one can deny the truth of your testimony, how Jesus restored one who was dead in sin to life eternal. LIVE your testimony. LIVE your faith. There are those who need to see the miracle of new life in Christ lived in you. Wake up, Christian, and live for Jesus!
