The scripture tells us that Jesus loved Martha and Mary. He loved Lazarus, too. His delay in going to them might make us wonder whether He really cared. Here’s the thing, Jesus’s delay was not His denial. He knew what lesson needed to be gained. He knew how best to bring His Father the glory for what would take place. So tarrying didn’t speak of an uncaring heart but of a love that knew better than anyone else the proper timetable.
Sometimes in this mixed up, full of heartbreaking scenarios world, I look to the sky and ask, “When are You coming, Lord?” I’m eager for His return. But I don’t know better than Him concerning His timetable. His delay is not His denial. He WILL come when the time is right, and His Father will be glorified.
