He has the power

Jesus had become close friends with a sibling group: Lazarus, Mary, and Martha. Lazarus fell ill, which would have been very disconcerting to his dependent-upon-him sisters in that culture. They were distraught, they needed help, and they knew to whom to turn: Jesus.

These days when we’re distraught and need help, we have a lot of resources: family members, friends, neighbors, professionals, Google, Facebook… When we need support, how often do we utilize those various resources? I wonder if Mary and Martha had lived at a time when Facebook was available, would they have gone there first, or would they have turned to Jesus? No way to know, but I love the fact that they turned to Him first. Their beloved brother was sick, and they reached out to the only One who was capable of giving them exactly what they needed. There’s a wonderful lesson in there for us. When we have a problem, seek the Problem Solver, our Savior, who knows all and has the power to change all.
