Have you ever had a small child run up to you, tug your shirttail, and say, “Watch me!” Little ones (and sometimes “not so little” ones) like to be noticed for what they do. Jesus was different. Oh, the wonders He performed! But none of it was meant to call attention to Himself; He sought to direct attention to the Father who had sent Him. When I read these words from Nicodemus, who was part of a religious group that was more inclined to criticize and distrust Jesus than admire Him, I get one of those good chills. He SAW GOD because of what He saw in Jesus. I had a wallpaper border in my office several years that sported several inspirational sayings. One has resonated in me: “Live in such a way that those who know you but don’t know God, will come to know God because they know you.” That is exactly what Jesus did. He was the radiance of God the Father on this earth. God was with Him; and because of Him, God is with us.
