I have ten grandjoys—six boys and four girls ranging in age from 10 to 20—and I love when they spend the night. I’ve learned something by hosting overnights: some of my grandjoys are afraid of the dark. They can’t go to sleep unless a light is burning in the room. The dark can be a scary place. Especially when it’s a strange dark place and we aren’t sure if we’ll bump into something or we wonder if someone is hiding in the shadows, ready to pounce.
Those who are trapped in sin are always in the dark. God’s decrees, evidence of His great love, illuminates the darkness and shows us the path to follow. When we follow Him, we find a purpose in every step. If you feel as if you’re caught in an unfamiliar, unpleasant dark corner, seek His face. Open yourself to His light. Follow His guidance. His pathway leads to light eternal.
