God knows

When I was in grade school, I read a short biography about the daughter of missionaries living in India. Everyone else in her family had blue eyes; she had brown, and she resented them. All of the brown-eyed people in the village were enamored by these blue-eyed strangers who spoke of Jesus. This girl felt she couldn’t minister as well because her brown eyes didn’t set her apart. She prayed every night she would awaken with blue eyes, and every morning her brown eyes peered back at her from the mirror. She couldn’t understand why God hadn’t given her blue eyes like her parents and siblings. Then one day men from a neighboring village burst into their hut and killed her parents, her brother, and her sister. But her brown eyes made them think she was a child from the village. She was spared. That’s when she knew why she’d been given brown eyes—so she would live to continue to share Jesus.

God knows what He’s doing. He has wonderful plans for each of us. We need only trust His wisdom and yield to His will.
