Christ’s Kingdom is forever

When Paul wrote to the Corinthian believers, he was concerned about the importance they were putting on things like what to eat, what to drink, when to celebrate this event or that one. Not that those things don’t matter at all—we need to take care of our bodies and also give recognition where it’s due. But too much focus on those things was taking their attention from what really mattered: Jesus. When we get so focused on earthly things, we become “me” minded. “See me? I’m eating the right things, drinking the right things, celebrating the right things…” Where is looking out for others in that kind of scenario? Jesus was a humble servant. He lived to glorify God and point others to Him. That’s what Paul wanted the believers to do. He wanted them to emulate Jesus. That should still be the foremost goal of believers today. The things of the world fade away; the things done in Christ’s name for His kingdom will last into eternity.
