One more misconception…the more we have, the happier we’ll be. I think the world disproves that theory, because people are always grabbing for more. More money, more power, more material possessions, more popularity…and what we see happening is more unhappiness, more dissatisfaction, more taking what doesn’t belong to them, more ugliness. Maybe this is why God instructs us to love our neighbor as ourselves. If I’m more focused on loving, then I’ll be more giving. I’ll be thinking about others’ needs above my own. Jealousy and selfish ambition have no room in the heart of a person who is pouring herself out. Let me be motivated by love, not greed; let me pour out His love rather than try to fill myself with the things of the world. Therein I will find true contentment.
